Total Demolition Permit Issued At Edgewater Property Where 3 Towers Planned

Miami’s Building Department has issued a total demolition permit for a former Wendy’s Restaurant at the 3333 Biscayne property where a major redevelopment is planned.

Multiple other demolition permits for residential properties on the same block were also issued on the same day, October 25. Those properties make up part of the new development site.

The Wendy’s permit had been approved in April, but was not issued until last week.

There’s also a total demolition permit for a multi-family building on the block which was approved October 25, which is not yet issued as of this morning.

The BG Group is listed as the contractor on all of the demolition permits.

The new development will include two residential towers rising 40 and 41 stories, as well as an office tower rising 12 stories.

I was biking yesterday from Bayside all the way to the Design District and there are still a ton of empty lots in Edgewater area.
Happy to see more development. It doesn’t have to be all high rises but it would be nice to have continuity and infill. The area is still not walkable with so many boarded up bldgs, empty stores and chain link fences.

Edgewater is already pretty walkable, if you’re used to living in a city, but agreed there’s plenty more room.

Ugh, no… When they all close down because their food is mediocre, it’ll be a missing tooth.

The low-rise portion is atrocious, and it’s not even a parking garage!
