PortMiami broke a new record for cruise traffic in fiscal year 2024, and remains the busiest cruise port in the world.
A total of 8,233,056 travelers were recorded during the year, which started October 1, 2023 and ended September 30, 2024.
The cruise passenger count for the year is the most ever for Miami, and is an increase of 12.79% over the previous year.
PortMiami also likely remained the busiest cruise port in the world, ahead of second place Port Canaveral, which was forecasting numbers that were lower than Miami’s.
The new lineup of ships which will begin departing from PortMiami this year are Explora Journeys Explora II, November 2024; Virgin Voyages Resilient Lady, November 2024; MSC Cruises World America, April 2025; Norwegian Cruise Line Aqua, April 2025; Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady, October 2025; and Oceania Allura, November 2025.
MSC Cruises’ new Cruise Terminal AA will also open this cruise season. Once completed, it will be the largest cruise terminal in the world.
On the west end of the port, construction will begin on the new Cruise Terminal G for Royal Caribbean International in summer 2025.
In June, PortMiami’ turned on shore power, which significantly reduces pollution in the area, with ships electricity instead of engines while docked.
Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades saw 4,010,919 passengers for the year, a 39% increase over the prior year.
