Five 800+ Foot Towers Now Under Construction In Miami

There are now five 800-foot tower under active construction in Miami, for the first time ever.

There are also now two completed towers taller than 800 feet, making it seven Miami towers either completed or under construction at that height.

Miami’s first 800-foot tower was completed in 2017, when the 868-foot Panorama Tower opened in Brickell.

Another reached completion earlier this year. The 817-foot Aston Martin Residences tower opened in May.

Those remain the tallest buildings in Miami as of today, but many more are planned that will surpass those heights.

Here are the five Miami towers under active construction that will pass the 800-foot mark:

1. Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences (100 stories, 1,040 feet above ground)

This will become Miami’s first supertall tower. It will include 387 condos, 205 guestrooms and suites, ballrooms and restaurants. Groundbreaking took place in October 2022, with cranes installed in May 2024 and vertical construction visible in June. By the beginning of November, the building was seven floors out of the ground, according to a photo by Ryan RC Rea. PMG, Greybrook, Mohari Hospitality, S2 Development, and Hilton are the developers.

2. Cipriani Residences  (80 stories, 950 feet above ground)

The first-ever ground-up Cipriani residences in North America will become Brickell’s tallest building to date, with 397 luxury condos. Groundbreaking took place in February, and a massive foundation pour was completed in October. Mast Capital is the developer.

3. Okan Tower (70 stories, 893 feet above ground)

Developer Okan Group broke ground on this tower in June 2022. It will include 399 residential units, a Hilton hotel with 316 rooms, 67,588 square feet of office, and retail. A foundation pour took place in April 2024, and by the end of October the building was at around level 6.

4. 1428 Brickell (70 stories, 861 feet above ground)

Developer Ytech International held a groundbreaking ceremony in November for The Residences at 1428 Brickell. It will include 195 residential units, and will generate its own electricity with solar panels integrated into the building’s glass..

5. Baccarat Residences (75 stories, 848 feet above ground)

Related Group and GTIS Partners are developing Baccarat as part of a complex that will include three towers (two are under construction). The Baccarat tower will include 360 residential units. Construction began in fall of 2023, and a foundation pour took place in August 2024.

That wont happen here with our proximity to the airport

Helloooo

Since the airport sucks anyways, we should just build a new one further west. Bigger and better.

At this point, pulling the plug and starting from scratch seems more feasible.

The airport is actually good for what it does within the current space. The multi-billion-dollar MIA modernization plan should address logistics/capacity issues, along with the feeling of being “old” and “worn out”.

The airport in its current location is also surrounded by businesses solely existing in their location because of the airport. They will never allow the airport to be closed.

We should also extend Metromoober to Dubai.

….also bike lanes on the Palmetto Expressway as well as up on the Metrorail tracks.

Cover the Podiums

Too bad all these towers, people won’t get to admire the architecture from a street level. Just think about that for a second. Looks cool from far away, but they are only big walls from a street level

That’s why we need an observatory deck!!

I agree with you. The street level in miami continues to be dead. We are very far from being a true walkable city.

Except Baccarat, because the podium looks better than the actual tower.

Interesting how each tower has different amount of floors per height. An 8′-0″ interior ceiling is very builder spec quality. Not very nice- IMO. Any luxe property should be 10′-0″ plus.
