Construction Permit Issued For Large New Whole Foods Market Next To Midtown Miami

Whole Foods Market has been issued a construction permit for a large new store near Midtown Miami, allowing work to begin.

The construction permit was issued this morning (August 19). It was first applied for on January 22.

According to the permit, a total of 50,812 square feet will be built out at an estimated cost of $7 million.

The new Whole Foods will be located on the ground floor of the new 39-story Forma Tower (formerly known as Nema), which topped off construction last year.

There will be hundreds of potential customers living right above the store at Forma, with 588 apartments nearing completion.

Whole Foods will be located at the base of the new 39-story Forma tower, seen nearing completion last month:

Edgewater , the best of Miami, close to downtown and Miami Beach.A real neighborhood.Projects get announced and then built, shows Miami how it is possible when major developers do projects

Edgewater is devoid of a lot of things. To me it’s without a doubt the least vibrant part of Miami. Your point about Constuction efficiency is definitely true though, and the buildings have great architecture.

That’s in Edgewater, not Midtown. Check the map of Miami’s neighborhoods.

Seriously don’t know why The Next Miami writers insist on describing this as “near Midtown” in every post about this Whole Foods. It is Edgewater, very clearly.

It’s not the “core” either.

It’s squarely within the Urban Core, along with another 7 blocks northward.

We need a Whole Foods in Brickell and another at Worldcenter along with a Trader Joe’s!

There’s a Whole Foods in downtown already and it’s walking distante from Miami World Center, so there’s no need for a Whole Food in World Trade Center, but they can put a Trader Joe’s in World Trade Center. In Brickell yes you need a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe’s

Walking distance is a 5 minute walk not 20… in NYC have a Whole Foods every few blocks, with the population at Worlcenter increasing by ~1,000 new residents per new building and many new buildings coming up, a Whole Foods there makes perfect sense.

It would be nice to Have Equinox at Worldcenter, there are 2 in Brickell and one in South Beach but none Downtown, especailly in Park West.

Plus we don’t need more Italian spots. Paying $30+ for pasta is wild.

Buses are third world public transportation. We need an above ground subway system so let’s extend the Metromover already.

You do know every city with metro systems are supplemental by bus systems… you’ll never have a metro system that will take you from your front door to wherever you’re going

So when do we think this Whole Foods will actually open its doors?

All this mobility talk, it’s called micro mobility people. Golf carts, bikes, scooters

Miami needs more of the above options like other cities. Not trains or movers that scar landscapes and no one uses
