MIA Passenger Count Up 10% In 2024, Breaking New Records

Miami International Airport is setting records for the number of passengers using the facility in 2024.

From January through July, a total of 33,840,894 passengers have either departed or landed at MIA, up 9.91% compared to the same period in 2023.

If current trends continue, MIA will have broken new passenger records three years in a row.

MIA passed 50 million passengers for the first time in 2022, shattering its previous record of around 46m passenger set in 2019.

In 2023, MIA served 52 million passengers for the first time.

So far this year, MIA is growing at an even faster percentage than in 2023.

I used to love MIA for its convenience. Close to the city center and relatively small footprint within the Terminals. But honestly now it’s just gross.

Do you think that they will ever build a new international airport out by the Everglades?

Nope

No why would they spend so much tax payer money to build a new airport that’s further away from almost everyone and would have negative environmental consequences when they could renovate the existing airport?

Photo of the dreaded third-world E Satellite is so fitting. Such an embarrassment that many of our premier int’l flights depart from here (Qatar, BA’s A380, etc)

That picture looks just fine.

You’ve clearly never been there before. You have to enter through D terminal, then walk all the way to E, take an elevator upstairs to a train, get on a metromover system to then get to E Satellite, and then finally walk to your gate.

Its so dumb

I travel a lot, and MIA is one of worst airports(facilities, infrastructure, technology) and definitely, the one with the worst service I have been to.

Worst airport in America. The terminal needs to be completely demolished and rebuilt with a new design.

Obviously you’ve never been to Newark or O’Hare.

Terminal A and C at EWR and Terminal 5 at ORD are much better than anything MIA offers

The problem is, modernization is not keeping up with the growth in passenger, and cargo.

Great, let’s tear the whole thing down for “another beaut from Arquitectonica,” that will age worse and have a fraction of the serviceable life of the existing terminal.
