Foundation Pour Completed For Brickell’s 67-Story Mercedes Benz Places Tower

A foundation pour for the 67-story Mercedes Benz Places tower has been completed, according to the developer’s social media account.

Vertical construction is expected to begin in July.

The pour took place over the weekend, with over 10,000 cubic yards of concrete trucked in.

The development is one of the largest currently under construction in Florida, at over 2.5 million square feet.

Mercedes Benz Places will have 791 residential units, along with office, hotel, retail, and amenity space.

They’re moving quick. Very impressive. Record breaking sales and one of best locations in Miami.

Not as impressive as Waldorf but still pretty cool

The architecture should have been redesigned, it’s too wide and massive.

GREAT infill. The premium stuff is starting to bleed into the west brickell side. GO MIAMI!

Anonymous

I don’t think you can call anything in Brickell “in-fill” anymore. This is a premier building, not an in-fill project to create housing. We need more infill in Little Havana, but no one seems to have enough sense to give that area an upzoning for the “infill”. Still looks nice though.

Anonymous

It’s already zoned for solid mid-rise infill projects. The issue is land bankers, lack of infrastructure, and of course, lack of a vision to redevelop the neighborhood properly i.e., not destroying historic structures for boxes with parking podiums, while crappy postwar buildings remain.

anonymous

its not zoned for mid-rises, that fake news. Check, its T4-R, that means no commercial and only 4 plex. Historic is another term for obstructionist.

anonymous

What are you talking about? Land bankers and lack of infrastructure wouldn’t exist of the zoning was better, people would develop and there would be more a walkable neighborhood. Its all box architecture already.

Anonymous

No to ANY upzoning until there’s a Metrorail extension from Government Center. Until then, plenty of empty and underutilized land and properties exist in the core east of I-95, south of I-195, and north of SW 15th Road.

Anonymous

so only the rich get any kind of zoning? All the land east of I95 is owned by large entities that will upcharge anyone living there to pay for the pension funds they serve.

Anonymous

You have no idea where west Brickell is, this is the center of Brickell.

Jordan

West Brickell is the neighborhood west of SW 1st Ave and east of I-95.

SW 2nd Ave is where the affordable housing/school.was just built.
Note the headline:

Jordan has a different perspective than those of us who live in Brickell. Central Brickell extends from SW 2nd Ave to Brickell Ave, forming a one-to-two block radius around Brickell Station. The outer boundary stretches from SW 3rd to Brickell Bay Drive. Like all neighborhoods, Brickell has some affordable developments mixed in.

Press, public officials, and developers seem to see it this way too.

Brickell: SW 3rd Ave to Brickell Bay Drive.

Central Brickell: SW 2nd Ave to Brickell Ave (around Brickell Station, Southside Park, Brickell City Centre and Mary Brickell Village).

it is not a matter of opinion.

PRESS – The Channel 10 news story posted above has at least the headline correct when they call it West Brickell.

PUBLIC OFFICIALS – Anyone can look at the zoning map and see that the east and west side of SW 1st Ave are different. Anyone can note that the Downtown Development Authority (created by Florida Statute in 1965) boundary map and see that the western border of Brickell ends where West Miami begins.
https://www.miamidda.com/wp-content/uploads/DDADistrictMap_2023.pdf

DEVELOPERS – In official documents, submissions have to accurately reflect the zoning, land use, neighborhood demarcations, and they do.

Only smart marketers, disingenuous Realtors, and the suckers who believe them, think that West Brickell is really Brickell.

The “Jordan” perspective is one of someone who has lived, owned, and/or worked in Brickell longer than you have been on this earth.
First Brickell job 1992, bought first of many Brickell condos in 2002, and worked on development projects in both Brickell and in West Brickell.

This should not be a big deal. West Brickell is perfectly fine.
Own where you live and own who you are, and life is terrific!

Anonymous

Zoning maps don’t accurately reflect the Brickell neighborhood, which is defined by its geography—east of I-95 and south of the Miami River.

Many neighborhoods, including Brickell, are not solely defined by zoning because they include both residential and commercial areas. In Brickell, zoning changes, such as the Rapid Transit Zone covering areas from SW 3rd Ave to Brickell Bay Drive, have promoted consistent development quality.

However, Brickell’s true identity is rooted in its distinct geographical area, recognized in other maps, not just its zoning regulations.

Funny because the Mercedes Benz tower is closer to the Calle Ocho plaza than the actual waterfront 😂

Icronic

It’s a “driver’s” location

Anonymous

This place isn’t near Calle Ocho. It’s close to Brickell City Center and a few blocks from Bayfront and the New River District. It’s better than living directly on the water, with easier access and higher elevation during storms. You get waterfront living with added convenience.

anon

It is close. Thats why a nearby tower is literally called “Calle 8”

Anonymous

The building’s name is temporary, probably to promote that area or gain local support. Calle Ocho is on SW 16th Avenue, about a 40-minute walk away. You can Google ‘Calle Ocho Hall of Fame’ to see its location and distance. It’s a fun place to visit for a lively night and cultural experience—but it’s not as close as the waterfront, which is just a few short blocks north and east in all directions.

Biscayne Bay is not even visible from West Brickell

Anonymous

You need a reality recertification. We know the world isn’t flat anymore. In this vertical city, being a few blocks from the water is just as good, if not better, than being right on it. This part of Brickell offers the same stunning views of Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, all while being in the heart of Brickell.

Great news , but there is a one little hiccup , somehow they will have to catch up to this with the second half of the building that goes in the ground where the fire station is right now .That , at this speed may take another 3-4 years.

Nice looking building. Something different and exciting.
However, the names of buildings are a bit much… named after cars and stuff….
Did they run out of names? The building isn’t any nicer if it is named Porsche tower, Mercedes Benz, or Lincoln.

C’mon…give the guy a break, it was just a little topo.

Also, “what Brickell has been missing green space” as if he didn’t know that this new project was greenspace for decades until this construction began.

Anonymous

There is plenty of “green space” in brickell. The real issue is that its not really connected in any meaningful way to Jose Marti or the rest of that neighborhood that is called “west Brickell” “Riverside” “East little Havana”… WHATEVER – its the area directly adjacent to I95, it is an eye sore of eye sores to have billion dollar developments next to a run down four-plex neighborhood.
